Phil has been a fourth grade teacher for 22 years while also owning and managing JP’s Firewood. Phil has taught the Men’s Bible Study at his church for over 15 years as well as being a regular speaker at the Thursday Life Night Service.

In his own words: “My interest to write came from my desire to record and share the memories of spending time with my son and our favorite hobby of hunting. Our love for hunting has increased over the years and so has our appreciation of creation. The combination of hunting and sharing our memories lead me to write and publish my first book God Whispers in the Woods.”

“After I published my first book my thoughts turned to write another. One of my joys in life is learning and then sharing what I have learned with others. I have discovered that writing combines both of my interests and gives me an outlet so others can be inspired and encouraged about the promises that are in Bible.”

In her own words: “As a small girl I had always felt a comforting, protecting presence around me, not knowing then that it was God, until I grew older and connected the feeling with what I had learned in church, the few times I went with friends.”

“As I grew up, so did my faith and understanding of scripture and my relationship with Jesus became as real and tangible as with my closest friend.”

“I’m constantly inspired by all the elements of nature, it’s complexities and simplicities. Trees, water, flowery Save & Exit fields, animals, rocks: yes, even rocks speak to my soul, as the beautiful rock bank around our pool is evidence of. We placed every one by hand. God bless my husband for indulging my quirks.”

“When I take the time to really see all that is around me, I begin to see the heart and mind of God, our creator and I am awed. Then I find myself wanting to write and capture the almost audible heart beat that I sense that moves my spirit. I resisted the urge to write or to even dream that I could write something that would be worthy of print for years, until I found myself so inspired by my daily devotional readings, written by others. They fed my soul and carried me through great trials and deep pain, as if written personally for me”

“I finally dared to admit to myself that I wanted to inspire and lift someone-else out of the miry clay, just as many authors had done for me. Years later I shared this desire with my husband and he revealed his desire to write and inspire others too. We both questioned why can’t we be one of “those people” who’s books line our shelves? The only thing stopping us, was us, so we both jumped into the process having one another for support and encouragement. My husband has published his first book this past year and is working on a study guide to accompany it. I have been writing daily devotions to compile into my first book, which I hope to finish this year or next.”

“With each devotion I write I find myself more eager to see the finished copy knowing that my Lord has inspired and birthed it not only for fulfilling my heart’s desire but to minister to the hearts of the readers, which I myself am one.”
